ShipLogic at the Belgian-Dutch Port Day: Cybersecurity with Historical Insight

Belgisch nederlandse havendag

On Tuesday 24 June, the Belgian-Dutch Port Day will take place in Ghent. This year’s central theme is: ‘Resilient Ports: Stronger Together Against Threats’, and ShipLogic has been invited to speak on this highly topical subject. The session will be presented by our team manager and product specialist: Wilco Vahrmeijer.

Turbulent Times
In these turbulent times, information security is barely ever out of the news. Data breaches at companies and government bodies frequently make the front pages. A commonly heard assertion is: it’s not a matter of if you become a victim, but when. Hackers are becoming more professional at a rapid pace, and in particular, state actors appear to have virtually unlimited resources to achieve their goals. No matter what measures an organisation takes, the complete elimination of risk is impossible. It requires constant vigilance to keep attacks at bay for as long as possible.

A Journey Through Time – Learning from the Past
There is now a wide range of standards and guidelines available – such as ISO 27001, BIO and NIS2 – that can help organisations strengthen their digital resilience. But can we also learn something from the past? In his session, Wilco takes you on a journey through time. Using historical insights and a concrete case study, he translates lessons from the past into the challenges of today.
