Working visit ShipLogic to BollardScan UK

Over the past two days, we visited BollardScan in Sunderland, UK. During our visit, we learned more about bollards, how BollardScan tests them using innovative, non-destructive methods, and why this is so important.
Bollards are an essential, but perhaps somewhat overlooked, part of quay infrastructure in ports. They must be able to withstand forces of 50, 100 tonnes or even more. It therefore makes sense that these workhorses of the quayside should be tested regularly—especially when you see footage of situations in which things go terribly wrong. Steel components weighing 100 kg or more can break away and be propelled through the air by the tension in mooring lines, potentially causing devastating consequences and extensive damage.
At ShipLogic, we believe it is important to keep adding new and relevant functionality to our software. That is why the integration of bollards and Safe Mooring Plans is on our roadmap. By consulting experts in this field, we ensure that we properly understand the subject and can integrate this functionality into ShipLogic in the best possible way.
